1. Overview
Situation Aware: Smart DND (the “App”) is an Android application developed and published by Vianex (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It lets you create rules that control Do Not Disturb based on calendar events, places, schedules, and driving.
2. Information the App handles
The App may access or process the following information only when needed for features you enable:
- Location data: precise device location, saved or discovered place coordinates, search radius, place name, and whether a location rule is active.
- Physical activity and driving signals: Android-provided movement states such as in-vehicle, walking, still, or unknown, together with brief GPS speed samples used to confirm Driving Mode.
- Calendar data: calendar identifiers, account/calendar display names, and event title and timing needed to determine whether a calendar rule is active. Calendar data is processed on the device.
- Rules and preferences: rule names, icons, keywords, coordinates, schedules, DND modes, caller categories, alarm preferences, enabled state, Smart Engine pause state, and manual overrides.
- App activity: local trigger counts, the most recent trigger time, active-rule state, and timestamps needed to end an app-owned DND session safely.
- Permission and device state: whether required Android permissions, location services, notifications, and DND access are available.
Contacts and callers
The App can ask Android to allow calls from everyone, contacts, or starred contacts while Priority mode is active. The App does not request contact-book permission, copy your contacts, upload contacts, or modify them. Android applies the selected caller category using its system DND policy.
3. How information is used
The information above is used to:
- identify enabled calendar, place, schedule, and driving rules;
- discover nearby places matching keywords chosen by you;
- register and maintain Android geofences around relevant places;
- use movement changes to refresh nearby-place detection or briefly confirm driving speed;
- apply the DND mode, alarm behavior, and caller category selected for a rule;
- show current rule, permission, and Smart Engine status; and
- restore normal sound when an App-owned rule or manual session ends.
4. Background location
Place rules use Android’s Geofence API. The App may securely query OpenStreetMap-compatible Overpass services for nearby places matching your enabled keywords, then register a bounded and rotating set of geofences. Android may detect entry into or exit from those radii while the App is not visible.
Nearby-place planning is refreshed after meaningful movement rather than by continuously polling GPS. Driving Mode uses brief speed checks after Android movement signals and while confirming whether a drive has ended. Actual timing and location accuracy depend on Android, device settings, signal conditions, and manufacturer power management.
6. Android permissions
- Precise and background location: supports saved and automatically discovered place rules, entry/exit detection, place labels, and short driving-speed confirmation.
- Physical activity: lets Android report movement changes so the App can refresh place detection or confirm driving without continuous GPS polling.
- Calendar access: supports calendar-triggered rules and upcoming-event status. The calendar integration declares read and write permissions for Android compatibility, but Smart DND uses the access to read events and does not create, edit, or delete calendar events.
- Do Not Disturb access: allows the App to apply and remove Android DND modes and configure the priority callers or alarms you select.
- Notifications: displays ongoing monitoring status and rule-state information where Android requires a foreground-service notification.
- Network access: supports place lookup and network availability checks.
- Start after reboot and wake lock: allows enabled automation to be restored and maintained after a device restart.
The App asks for relevant runtime permissions in context. Optional features will not work if their required access is declined or revoked.
7. Storage, retention, and deletion
Rule configuration, saved place coordinates, trigger statistics, consent choices, and automation state remain in the App’s private storage on your device until you delete the relevant rule, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App.
- Delete one rule: use the rule’s menu in the App. Its active configuration is removed and associated geofence state is refreshed.
- Delete all App data: use Android Settings → Apps → Smart DND → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall the App.
- No account deletion: the App does not offer or create user accounts, so there is no remote account record to delete.
External service operators may retain limited request or security logs under their own policies. Vianex does not control those retention periods.
8. Your choices and controls
You can control processing at any time by pausing Smart Engine, disabling or deleting individual rules, changing rule permissions, disabling device location, revoking background location or physical activity access, disabling calendar access, removing DND access, clearing App data, or uninstalling the App.
Android permissions can be reviewed from the App’s Settings screen or Android system Settings. Removing a permission does not delete your saved rule, but the rule that depends on it may stop working until access is restored.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information directly to us, contact us using the details below.
10. Security
The App uses Android’s application sandbox and permission controls, minimizes external transmission, and uses HTTPS for supported place lookups. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, but the App is designed to keep its primary automation data on the device and limit access to features selected by the user.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when App functionality, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be revised. Material changes will be presented in the App or through another appropriate notice when required.
